Giarrusso in the Democratic Party? What does the party regulation say (which, however, would prohibit membership) – Corriere.it

Today I officially announce my entry into the Democratic Party,
because I firmly believe in the party’s rebirth project that Stefano Bonaccini has in mind. When Dino Giarrusso (former journalist of the Hyenas and now MEP elected with the M5S, then abandoned) climbed on stage in amazement, in Milan, for the convention in support of Bonaccini, candidate for the secretariat, the frost descended on the hall. Hardly anyone had noticed his presence on the speaker list. And no one expected such a politically explosive announcement.

The pacts, at least to note the stories that filter through the staff of the governor of Emilia-Romagna, were different:
Giarrusso should have reasoned on digital communication, perhaps with a hint of approaching the Democratic Party.
Then things went in a completely different direction and the storm broke out not only in the militants’ room, but also among the militants and on social media.

More than one of the four candidates in the race for the post-Letta term defined this congress as constituent, to open the classic enclosure of the Democratic Party also to other compatible political forces and thoughts. Bonaccini and some of his loyalists, therefore, had identified a possible resource in this sense in the former grillino Giarrusso. But the result of this operation, at least until now, has proved completely counterproductive.

But really Giarrusso, who in recent years had always used words of fire against the dem, will now be able to take the card of the Democratic Party?
The mayor of Florence Dario Nardella, number two of the Bonaccini motion, had immediately put his hands forward: First apologize, a sentence later reiterated by Bonaccini himself.
Beyond the political proclamations, to deny Giarrusso the Pd jacket is a precise provision in the regulation for membership. Article 15 reads as follows: It is not permitted to issue the card to people belonging to other Italian political movements or members of other Italian political parties or adherents, within the elective assemblies, to groups other than that of the Democratic Party, nor to natural persons already registered in the registry of members who, on the occasion of administrative elections, have run as candidates in the current year and in the previous one in alternative lists to the Democratic Party or in any case not authorized by the Democratic Party. Giarrusso, after leaving the M5S last May, with Cateno De Luca (former mayor of Messina and now a deputy for Ars) had launched the South calls North movement, of which the former Hyena was secretary, a position he then left. A picture that, papers in hand, without a derogation would hardly seem to be able to allow Giarrusso’s official entry into the Democratic Party.
