Dear friends, in the cultural anonymity into which the Parliament of the Republic fell some time ago, I am convinced that the genetic imprint of the old Christian Democrat culture and the Church’s social doctrine have left a trace in each of you. I am appealing to this outline today so that, faced with a tax reform that involves the lives and hopes of Italian families and businesses, we can resume a reasoned discussion starting from the country’s current difficulties. The growth of inequality in the last thirty years has been dramatic to the point that today people are poor even while working. A dramatic scenario that puts an end to the liberal idea of ​​an exclusively economic capitalism in which the market is the best redistributor of the wealth produced.
