Gabriele Muccino and the break with his brother Silvio: all the stages of the story between statements and accusations

«I experienced a mourning with him, a mourning of a living person, whom I haven’t seen since 2007. It was an aberrant experience for me from a psychological point of view: it stripped me. It remains one of the most incomprehensible, unjustifiable and perhaps even unforgivable things. This is what Gabriele Muccino said to Corriere last year (on Wednesday 12 April the series “A casa tutti bene”, a reboot of the 2018 film of the same name directed by the director, arrives unencrypted on Tv8 in prime time) about the relationship with his brother Silvio. Now interrupted: «At a certain point when this mourning was elaborated, when I stopped suffering, 15 years have now passed. There you realize that you don’t want to meet that person anymore, you have nothing more to tell because basically you don’t respect them, you don’t admire them and you don’t know them anymore. If these three elements are missing, what is the rest? Form?”. Speaking of a possible clarification, the director declared: «When your brother disappears without even telling you why for an entire life, your body suffers, you suffer psychologically, you wake up in the middle of the night as if you lack air, because you want to your brother. He was a piece of me. He took a huge part of my life from me and now that part is gone. Our natural defense in the elaboration of suffering causes a thickness to be created on the scar that makes that scar numb. It’s there, you see it but the flesh that covers it is so thick that we have become numb, in spite of what we would like. But it is physiological to defend oneself from such a penetrating pain».
