From the Interior Ministry to the Economy, impasse on ministers. Meloni: «An authoritative team» – Corriere.it

With Maurizio Lupi and Silvio Berlusconi face to face and there will be contacts, but the leader of FdI does not want to give the image of those who, as if they had already received the post, hold official consultations and define the government list: it would be neither “correct” nor “opportune”, all the more so in such a delicate moment for the country in which “responsibility” is needed. Imagine then if you can act in a less than respectful way towards the Quirinale.

Even so the message that Meloni launched via Twitter yesterday morning must be read: «I continue to read unreal reconstructions regarding possible ministers of a center-right government. After bankruptcy management such as that of Speranza & co. I assure you that we are working on a level team that will not disappoint you. Do not believe the lies that circulate ”is the closure on a sort of global denial that in theory concerns everything. Meloni is keen to let people know that with Salvini the meeting went “well”, that the atmosphere is good, that in their face to face there have been neither vetoes nor impositions nor threats of external support
. And the Northern League leader confirms.

Someone maliciously commented yesterday on the mention of the Ministry of Health, the very one where many “toto-ministers” inserted Licia Ronzulli. From the loyalists of Meloni it is explained that no, there was no attack, if anything the javelin was against self-nominations of virologist stars. And in general the message is: the list is not ready and in any case nobody knows it except her. Claiming the role and at the same time the need not to open internal fronts. As she said in the evening, she feels “guaranteed” by the fact that her coalition is and remains united, on everything. But the work on the formation of the government continues with knots that have not yet been solved.

Salvini does not seem to give in for now on the request to return to the Interior Ministry.
Veto or not, the resistance of the premier in pectore to the hypothesis remains, and alternative solutions are being studied. One is to entrust the Northern League leader with a ministry that is however weighty, maybe the Infrastructures – even if in that box Salvini thinks of the loyal Edoardo Rixi – and also appoint him vice premier together with a counterpart of FI, Antonio Tajani, who also aspires to an important department, Foreign or Defense the favorites. The Viminale could still go to the League – Molteni’s name is mentioned – while for Giulia Bongiorno there is the Public Administration rather than Justice.

But each choice brings with it others: in defense, despite insisting that he is not willing to return to the government, Guido Crosetto, one of the strong names of FdI, who could also become undersecretary to the presidency, could land. And then there are Fazzolari, Lollobrigida, Urso and Fitto, for ministries to which one would also add one from the “Sea”. La Russa is also one of these, if he does not become president of the Senate, where the Northern League player Calderoli also runs. It is unlikely that Palazzo Madama could be the room that the leader would not be opposed to entrusting to the opposition despite the no from Lega and FI: easier Montecitorio, for the Democratic Party. A ministry seems safe even for the centrists, with Lupi.

The most delicate game remains that of the Economy. The unpacking of the ministry (Finance and Budget) is difficult to go through, due to the long bureaucratic times that the operation would entail, given that an ad hoc decree is needed, while it is possible that energy is merged with the Ministry for Transition. One more reason why the hope that Fabio Panetta will lead the economy has not faded – member of the board of the ECB and possible governor of the Bank of Italy – so far appeared cold compared to the hypothesis but not yet definitive in the no. For an economic assignment, we will see which, the name of the former minister Domenico Siniscalco is also strong.
