From Ferrero to Stevanato (passing through Berlusconi): who are the richest Italians, according to Forbes

Elon Musk he is no longer the richest man on the planet. According to the usual year-end survey by Forbes magazine, the new owner of Twitter is surpassed, in terms of assets owned, by Bernard Arnault, chairman and CEO of Lvmh, a multinational company which includes around 70 brands in the fashion and luxury markets. Arnault, according to calculations by the business newspaper, owns assets and real estate for a total of 180.5 billion dollars. The inventor of Tesla and Starlink, however, stops at 162.9 billion dollars. At the same time, the one who until two years ago occupied the top of the ranking, namely the founder of Amazon, is ousted from the podium Jeff Bezos: in fact, in third place among the wealthiest men in the world Gautam Adaniat the top of the company of the same name specialized in commodity trading, with assets of 116.7 billion dollars.

But, like every year, attention in our latitudes is captured by a sub-classification: namely the one that photographs Italian wealth. And which serves to put some order in order to understand the size and growth of the country’s large business groups. Out of 2668 personalities taken into consideration, 51 are Italian.

In the first place there is John Ferrero, president of the homonymous family confectionery company based in Alba, in Piedmont. With an estimated assets of 35.3 billion dollars, this year it has gained 10 positions in the international rankings, stopping at thirtieth place. According to estimates made last April, the second richest man in Italy was Leonardo Del Vecchio, owner of the Luxottica group, who died in June at the age of 87. Now in second position there is Giorgio Armani, with a wealth of 6.6 billion dollars which places him, internationally, in 356th place. Followed by Silvio Berlusconi, owner of Fininvest, who has personal assets of 6.5 billion dollars.

In fourth place figure Massimiliana Landini Aleotti, owner of the Florentine pharmaceutical company Menarini, first woman in the ranking. At the end of 2022, the entrepreneur’s assets amounted to 5.3 billion dollars (down from the approximately 9 billion estimated at the beginning of the year alone). Peter Ferraripresident of the Ferretti yacht manufacturing group, is in fifth place: assets are worth 4.8 billion dollars.

Soon after there are Patrick Bertelli and his wife Miuccia Prada, of the high fashion group founded in 1913: both have assets, according to Forbes estimates, of about 4.5 billion dollars each. But there are not only “ordinary” names in this year’s ranking. Because in seventh place we find Sergio Stevanato of the group of the same name: it produces glass vials and has seen its turnover increase dramatically with the launch of vaccination campaigns all over the world. He has personal assets of approximately 4.4 billion euros. Or as is the case with Joseph Crippa, founder of the Technoprobe company, a leader in the semiconductor sector, fundamental for testing the usability of microchips, of which a worldwide shortage has been discovered following the Covid-19 pandemic. Crippa is twelfth in the national ranking and has assets worth about 3.7 billion dollars. There is a place before him Luca Garavogliapresident of the Campari group, with assets close to 4 billion dollars.
