The FIA ​​has set the date for the preliminary hearing on Ferrari’s request for a review of the penalty to Carlos Sainz in the Australian GP. On Tuesday 18 April the stewards will decide whether to accept the review request by examining the unpublished evidence collected by the Cavallino, which by regulation must be unpublished and significant for the purposes of the change of judgement.

The pilots and representatives of the team will be heard, then if the FIA ​​deems the new elements sufficient to reopen the investigation, a second discussion will proceed. The college of commissioners present in Australia should make the decision, in this case the sentence would be expected before the weekend of the Baku GP (April 28-30).

Sainz was punished with 5 seconds for causing the accident with Alonso on the restart after the second red flag. He was fourth before the collision, with the penalty being relegated to twelfth. A punishment judged too severe even by the Aston Martin driver himself. Ferrari’s latest precedent is not favorable and concerns the 2019 Canadian GP. The new tests were not necessary to award the victory to Sebastian Vettel.
