Alice D’Amato bronze in the individual, another medal at the European gymnastics championships

ANTALYA – Alice D’Amato won the bronze medal in the individual general competition at the European Championships in Antalya, Turkey. In the continental competition of artistic gymnastics which takes place in Turkey, the twenty-year-old from Genoa finished third behind the British Jessica Gadirova and in Hungarian Zsofia Kovacs. Alice remained in the running until the end to succeed her twin Asia D’AmatoEuropean champion in Munich 2022 and member of the national team that took silver in the team in Antalya, behind the British.

For Alice it is therefore the second medal in two competitions, a result obtained starting on vault with 14.000, fourth score behind Vaelen (Belgium), Gadirova and Kovacs. In the second rotation she took the lead thanks to the parallel bars (14.400), leaving Vaelen, Kovacs and Gadirova behind, but the beam allowed the Hungarian to come back and gain first place with an advantage of two tenths over the blue (who made 13.000 in the third rotation). The podium was decided on the free body, the strong point of Gadirova who did not disappoint by placing a 13.933 which was worth the gold. Kovacs kept the silver, and Asia the bronze with a 13.100 in floor exercise.
