European Fencing Championships, seventh blue medal: Navarria silver in sword

Seventh medal for Italy in fencing Plovdiv European Championships. On the second day of competition on the Bulgarian platforms, Mara Navarria she won silver in the individual epee: the Italian lost in the final to the French Alexandra Louis Marie, winning 15-8. Clear path up to the final for the Friulian: 6 victories in as many assaults in the group stage, then the 15-3 successes over the Serbian Grijak and 15-8 over the Polish Pytka, before the 15-13 over the Swiss Krieger in the quarterfinals, worth Friulian entry into the medals area. Finally the semifinal won over the Estonian Differt 15-10.

Fiamingo tenth, sabers far from the podium

Still in the women’s epee, Rossella Fiamingo finished tenth, mocked by a single jab per extra minute from the Estonian Kuusk, and Federica Isola, overtaken by the French Candassamy despite an attempted comeback, finished twelfth. Finally, for Alberta Santuccio, 26th place after the blue derby lost with her friend and teammate Rossella Fiamingo. Instead, all the blue sabers stopped among the top 16: 10th place for Luca Curatoli, 13th Luigi Samele, 15th Michele Gallo and 16th Matteo Neri.
