Even the myriad of thematic clubs of the Democratic Party which in Rome are dedicated to civil servants registered with the party, more or less participated in the first phase of the primaries. Largely, 78% voted for Elly Schlein. A success that outraged the manager Head grainfan of the waste-to-energy plant and promoter of the public-private combination for cleaning the streets: “In the Roman circles of the Democratic Party made up of civil servants, Schlein gets 99% of the votes. No comment,” he wrote on Twitter.

In addition to the avalanche of people who have invited him not to use the expression civil servant “as if it were an offense”, there have also been those who have asked and imagined details. “I bet that in Atac Elly circles you depopulate”, writes Giuseppe. “He loves too” replies Chicco Testa.

Dem primaries, Elly Schlein’s triumph splits the Roman Democratic Party: “The Gualtieri administration is punished”

In reality Schlein, looking at the list of certified votes drawn up by the primary committee, has filled up among the traffic policemen. Out of 45 voters, the dem deputy received 43 preferences, another was addressed to Gianni Cuperlo and the last to the governor of Emilia Romagna Stefano Bonaccini. Then there is the Acea – Article 1 club where employees of the multi-utility (but not only) voted and are members of the party that bears the name of the club. And that, as we know, claims Schlein: it is no coincidence that it ended 47 to 0 for the aspiring secretary.

Other accessions to the motion of the deputy can be found in other circles, where, however, the numbers are decidedly marginal: in the aforementioned Ama circle, two voted, the only valid vote went to Schlein who took another three from ASL Roma II , Bonaccini one; the same happened at the Policlinico Umberto I club (where the president of the region took two); in Atac out of 12 voters seven expressed themselves for Schlein and 7 for Bonaccini. Who won at the San Giovanni hospital, bringing home five preferences against the two of the competitor.

The governor of Emilia Romagna also got the better of the railway workers: four votes for him and three for Schlein. In total, 116 out of 148 votes were taken by the deputy among civil servants. Compared to the 2,194 preferences that made her win in Rome, this is 5%.

“I find the distinction between private and public employees truly ridiculous – comments the Roman secretary of Article 1 Peter Latin – among other things, the number of workers in public companies who participated in the vote is marginal compared to those in other circles”.

Also Enzo Foschideputy secretary of the Lazio Democratic Party, goes on the counterattack: “Chicco Testa hates public employees, for us it is an honor that they are members of the party and that they participate. Indeed, if anything, the problem is that many were unable to vote given that, for example, the Pd Ama club actually has 70 members and not two”.
