The fuel this time comes from the wind. zero emissions and even zero kilometers because it is generated by the large blades of the Rocche Bianche wind farm on the hills of Vado Ligure, in the province of Savona. We are talking about the first recharging station for wind-powered electric vehicles in Italy capable of supplying, over an area of 3,500 metres, up to ninety vehicles at the same time, even with ultrafast systems, i.e. very fast systems that allow you to fill up in just a few minutes. It has already been built and will be inaugurated on June 26th. The project of Recharge, a startup of the Fera group, a Milanese producer of exclusively renewable energy. The hub is located two kilometers between the Genoa-Ventimiglia and Savona-Turin motorways and two kilometers from the port of Vado Ligure – explains Ugo Salvoni, project manager -. Therefore a strategic place for recharging while traveling equipped with super-fast Fera and Tesla columns and soon with other operators.
From wind to wheels
The great novelty of the project, as explained by Edoardo Barabino, designer of Recharge, is the direct connection between columns and wind turbines. Which allows you to bypass the national grid to use exclusively wind energy (Wind-to-Wheels) and therefore be able to offer the best possible rates in the future. When the station opens, 17 columns will be available, of which 14 are Ultra Fast, from 250 to 350 kW of power, and others are Fast with 75 kW and Quick with 22 kW. Then over time the columns will increase up to sixty and then in the future arrive, with an expansion of the station, to the maximum allowed: ninety electric vehicles charging at the same time.
A service area for electric cars
Ours is a project of the present that looks to the future – comments Cesare Fera, president of the energy group of the same name -. In the long run, more and more wind and solar energy will be produced and this, in addition to the benefits for the environment, will lead to a new dynamic in energy prices which could have an impact on the end user. In short, if one day there is an overabundance of energy production from wind and sun, it will be possible to offer extremely competitive rates and even close to zero, as is the case in Australia today. An upgrading of the Vado Ligure station is also planned. An area of services for the electric driver sensitive to environmental issues will be created – confirms the president Cesare Fera – with a cafeteria, organic products, a massage area and natural treatments for the body. A place to meet people who share the values and objectives of sustainability and environmental protection.
