Dino Giarrusso talks about his failure to join the Democratic Party: what happened

It will be for this reason that, after the primaries and certified the defeat of the sifdante of Elly Schlein, Dino Giarrusso has decided to go back to talking about why, for now, his entry into the Democratic Party has vanished, which was to be announced during a meeting of Stefano Bonaccini in view of the challenge. “I was sad about how some media reported this story,” admits the former Hyena to A day as a sheep on Rai Radio1. “I announced my entry into the Democratic Party in agreement with some leaders. Then, as there were some reactions from some and seeing that someone’s sensitivity was touched, in agreement with the candidates for the secretariat I said ‘let’s wait a moment, let’s do do the primaries and then we’ll talk about it”.

Giarrusso, a former exponent of the 5 Star Movement, said that “there had been contacts with the Democratic Party for some time, after all I have always been on the left. I had spoken to many fellow MEPs and also with Bonaccini who – he guarantees – knew and was I agree to announce my entry into the Democratic Party in Milan. It is clear that not even a psychopath goes to announce something if he does not agree with whoever organized that thing”.

Then, however, due to the controversy sparked by his possible entry into the ranks of the dem, Bonaccini later declared that if Giarrusso had entered the Democratic Party, the former Hyena would have had to apologize to those he injured in the past and accept the rules and the path of the party. “What he said is right – Giarrusso underlined – and it’s right to accept the rules, but if someone wants me to apologize, it mustn’t be for invented things”.

Then the former grillino reiterated that his entry among the dem had been agreed “with Bonaccini and also others who belong to the Schlein motion”. And with respect to how the story was dealt with by the media, Giarrusso specified: “I would never use the word persecuted, but I think that when I was at hyenas I’ve done services that annoyed someone who took revenge through someone else. Let’s say I don’t have a friendly press”.

Finally, Giarrusso commented on the fact that, when his entry into the Democratic Party was feared, Alessandro Gassman said “I will no longer vote for you”. “Perhaps he was referring to me – admitted the former Hyena – Of course, if I have to talk about acting, I won’t give Gassman a lesson. And when he gets 120,000 votes, I will be very attentive to his political lessons”.
