The investigation did not yield enough evidence to substantiate the allegations of harassment and grooming, but enough to substantiate the improper conduct. Eat to return to coaching will have to take a course on “professional boundaries”

Malta suspends its former coach, Devis Mangia.
There is not enough evidence to substantiate the sexual harassment and solicitation allegations, but enough to support the improper conduct. This is what emerged from the conclusions of the investigations of the Safeguard Board of the Maltese Football Federation. So Mangia will be temporarily suspended from participating in any football activity in Malta until he registers for a course on professional boundaries, which he must complete within six months. The chosen course must be approved by the MFA Safeguards Council. The decision was made official on the website of the Maltese Football Federation. The reasons for the sentence will be sent to the parties and the decision may be appealed.

On 7 November 2022 Mangia – in the past also coach of Italy Under 21 – had resigned from the role of coach,

firmly rejecting any allegations of harassment.
He had issued a statement in which he explained that he had «matured this decision after a long reflection. In carrying out my duties as head coach I have always worked passionately in the interests of Maltese football and the national team. The goals we have achieved are the result of the hard work and dedication of many people».

Two months earlier, in September, allegations of sexual harassment against a player of the national team had come upon him
which took place, according to the indictment, during a training camp before a match against Estonia. The Maltese Federation promptly suspended him and accepted his resignation, reiterating that the episodes concerned “alleged inappropriate conversations” and not physical harassment. However, the allegations concerning a former athlete of the Universitatea Craiova team, coached by Mangia in the two-year period 2017-19, had also arrived. The mother of Razvan Popa, a central defender who has been released for free since last summer (and with a past in the Inter youth team), had recounted the alleged harassment suffered by her son by the coach.
