Csm, Parliament elects Felice Giuffrè

As expected, the Parliament in joint session gave the green light with 420 votes to the name of Felice Giuffre – Brothers of Italy share – as the tenth lay member of the Superior Council of the Judiciary. Ordinary of public law in Catania, his name had been advanced during the last session to replace Joseph Valentine (also indicated by FdI) forced to step aside after the release of the news of his involvement in the ‘Ndrangheta ‘Gotha’ trial precisely on the day of the capture of Matthew Messina Money.

During the last session the other 9 lay members of the CSM were elected. Giuffrè’s name had failed to overcome the majority of three-fifths of the courtroom. She would have come from the President of the Republic, Sergio Matterellathe solicitation to quickly convene a new session for the election of the tenth member so as to make the new CSM immediately operational also in view of the openings of the judicial year which will take place in the Cassation and in the judicial districts next week.
