Confartigianato guides SMEs towards sustainability

It is in terms of green skills that small companies even beat other company sizes. In 2022, in fact, for 44.7 percent of the personnel to be hired (almost 1.5 million people), small entrepreneurs required a high aptitude for energy saving and environmental sustainability

Small businesses are increasingly “green” and committed to reducing the impact of their activities. According to an analysis by Confartigianato, according to which environmental protection is at the heart of 66.3 percent of SMEs. In particular, the green actions involve 99,000 small businesses with 304,000 employees in the renewable energy supply chain and 486,000 small construction businesses working to ensure energy savings and efficiency in buildings. Sustainability is also the watchword for the 144,000 small entrepreneurs who operate in the circular economy and the 70,000 artisan auto repair companies that offer services on the hybrid and electric car market. But it is in terms of green skills that, according to Confartigianato, small companies even beat other company sizes. In 2022, in fact, for 44.7 percent of the staff to be hired (equal to almost 1.5 million people), small entrepreneurs required a high aptitude for energy saving and environmental sustainability. For medium and large companies, the need for workers with green skills stopped at 36.5 percent. Among the sectors with the greatest demand for manpower with “green” skills, construction, auto repair, transport and logistics services stand out. At a territorial level, the regions of the South, in the lead Puglia, Sicily and Campania, are those in which small businesses require the highest number of workers with a marked aptitude for energy saving processes and with a reduced environmental impact.
