The outgoing mayor Francesco Italia with 55.4 percent of the preferences goes towards reconfirmation in Syracuse. This is the figure that emerges after the almost completed official scrutiny. The other candidate in the ballot, Ferdinando Messina, holds 44.6%. Italy, a member of Action, is supported by five civic lists, the three in the first round plus the two of Edy Bandiera, a former mayoral candidate who chose to support him in the runoff. Bandiera, who suspended himself from Forza Italia to run for the office of mayor, has been designated deputy mayor.
Center-right defeated in Syracuse
Ferdinando Messina, an expression of the centre-right coalition, was supported by eleven lists: the seven of the coalition were joined by the civic list of Michele Mangiafico and the three civic lists which supported the former mayor Giancarlo Garozzo in the first round. In Syracuse, the definitive turnout figure was 38.74 percent: a total of 39,571 people voted. In the 2018 ballot, the voters had been 34.07 percent. In the first round, the turnout was 56 thousand 203 voters, equal to 55.02 per cent.

Ballots Sicily: only 40.84% of voters to vote
To record the decreasing turnout in the four municipalities of Sicily where yesterday and today they voted for the run-offs of the local elections (Syracuse, Piazza Armerina, Acireale and Aci Sant’Antonio).
