The case of the Nordio bill continues to fuel controversy and clashes within the government forces. Justice holds court and today Defense Minister Guido Crosetto intervenes in a tweet. «Minister Nordio has all my solidarity because he is caught in the grip between those who want to maintain the power to use “justice” as an instrument of political struggle and those who are afraid to challenge injustice by making a right choice, because they fear ” retaliation”» wrote the minister on twitter.

And the political clash follows the clash between the Keeper of the Seals and the magistrates which shows no signs of tiredness. On the contrary. And divisions are growing within the majority over the mafia’s external competition: Deputy Prime Minister Antonio Tajani has sided with Nordio, who hopes for a review of the crime, but for the other Deputy Prime Minister Matteo Salvini and Undersecretary Alfredo Mantovano to put their hands on the law “It’s not a priority.” At the moment, however, the Minister of Justice appears to be more attentive to another chapter, which is among the most indigestible to robes: “We will probably bring the proposal for the separation of careers to the next majority meeting – he said – I hope it starts as soon as possible shortest possible time”. Smoke and mirrors for the ANM, which believes it is taking a “dangerous path for democracy”. The question and answer came the day after the face to face at the Quirinale between the Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni and the President of the Republic Sergio Mattarella, in which the issue of justice was dealt with extensively, with the implied intention also of facilitating a tone down . From the majority, however, the distinctions from the Keeper of the Seals were not lacking. On the subject of the external competition with the mafia, only Forza Italia supported the minister. «From a legal point of view – said Foreign Minister and Deputy Prime Minister Antonio Tajani – I think Minister Nordio is right. I think he wants to strengthen the fight against organized crime and not weaken it”. From the other allies, however, the stop has come. The first – decided – by the undersecretary Mantovano, considered very close to the premier, was followed by that of the leader of the Lega Salvini: an intervention on the external competition in the mafia association “is not the priority because”, he explained, “an urgent justice reform is needed , effective and shared, not against anyone, but involving everyone, including magistrates”. Nordio took note of the climate: “This topic is not part of the government program,” he explained.
Separation of careers and intervention on external competition are not however part of the Justice reform already launched by the Council of Ministers. The provision, now awaiting the green light from Colle for the start of the procedure in Parliament, however contains other debated interventions, such as the abolition of the abuse of office. For Nordio “it was the only possible solution”.
