Today the summit is between the 7 first left-wing citizens of the big cities: surrogacy has nothing to do with it. The request for the new law. On 12 May, an initiative in Turin with local administrators

Proceed with the transcription of the documents, at least those concerning the children of two mothers and therefore not dealing with the gestation for others. Renew the request to Parliament to fill the legislative vacuum on the matter. But also, if the situation does not unblock itself, politically support a counter-proposed parliamentary law.

The call set for this afternoon. And these should be the proposals at the center of the debate of the left-wing mayors of the large Italian cities, who have been looking for a common strategy for some weeks. Seven will participate: the mayor of Milan Giuseppe Sala, that of Rome Roberto Gualtieri, and then Stefano Lo Russo (Turin) Matteo Lepore (Bologna), Dario Nardella (Florence), Gaetano Manfredi (Naples) and Antonio Decaro, mayor of Bari and also president of the Association of Municipalities. It will be a first step, a way to find the same denominator and then also involve other first citizens. In order to extend what, on the politically hot topic of the children of same-parent couples, has already been called the network of left-wing mayors for a few days.

That the theme has become central on a political level this is demonstrated by the new lunge of the PD secretary: The government – says Elly Schlein – plants an ideological flag a day and in the meantime launches an unprecedented attack on the rights of boys and girls. Pressures to stop transcriptions, for example. But also the intervention of the mayor of Rome Gualtieri, who criticizes the Minister for the Family Eugenia Roccella: He continues to confuse gestation for others (…) with the transcription of documents concerning children of two mothers without the use of gestation For others. They are different cases and in the second one there is a very clear ruling by the Cassation which establishes how the transcription should be done. But Gualtieri also makes it a political question: I don’t understand why we continue not to respond to the findings on the merits. And instead we keep bringing up gestation for others. Seems like a way to create confusion.

On the same line, the mayor of Turin, Lo Russo, who speaks of a common front and asks Parliament to legislate. There is already another appointment on the agenda, May 12, precisely in Turin. Probably at the Teatro Regio – the mayor still explains – an initiative with local administrators, which we hope will be participated as much as possible at a national level.

The mayor of Naples Gaetano Manfredi he says that until there are no stops from the authorities we will continue with the transcripts. And he symbolically changed the name of the department, from alla Famiglia to alle Famiglie. The Radicals and +Europe have sent a motion to all the municipal councils and an invitation to the mayors to proceed with the registration of the children of homoparental couples with both parents. A call to mobilize to respond to the fact that, says Emma Bonino, the government solves complex problems with prohibition. But Minister Roccella closes the door: The mayors who want to continue making the transcripts are not against the Piantedosi circular, they are against the sentence of the Cassation.
