The focus of the meeting will be the presentation of the statistical report “Child labor in Italy: risks, accidents and safety in the workplace”, based on INAIL and INPS data processed by the “Public Health Laboratory for the analysis of Community Health Needs” at the Department of Medicine, Surgery and Dentistry “Scuola Medica Salernitana” of the University of Salerno.

An awareness journey. The event will be opened with institutional greetings by the President of UNICEF Italy, Carmela Pace and Domenico Della Porta, Coordinator of the UNICEF Observatory for the prevention of damage to health from child labour. The data will be presented by Francesco De Caro, scientific director of the aforementioned laboratory, and Giuseppina Cersosimo, professor of sociology at the University of Salerno. The meeting is part of a wider process that has seen UNICEF Italy engaged in a process of raising awareness on the protection and safety at work of minors.

The tracking. The collection, monitoring and analysis of data on this issue is a fundamental exercise that allows for the assessment of the main health risks, raising awareness of these same risks, both for employers and young workers. UNICEF Italy once again reaffirms its commitment through orientation and training activities with a view to strengthening the safety and health measures for adolescent workers.
