Celine Dion entrusted a moved social video the announcement of the cancellation of eight shows scheduled for summer 2023 in Europe, including that of July 15 at the Lucca Summer Festival, due to serious health problems. Celine had completed the first 52 dates of the Courage World Tour in North America before the pandemic emerged and stopped touring in March 2020. Since then, the Canadian singer has been undergoing treatment and is recovering from severe and persistent muscle spasms that they prevented her from performing. Celine Dion’s medical team continues to evaluate and treat her condition.

“I have a rare neurological syndrome”

«I have a rare neurological disorder, Stiff Person Syndrome, or “stiff” human disorder. Now we know what caused all the muscle spasms I’ve had. It hurts me to tell you that I won’t be ready to resume my tour in Europe,” said Celine. “I miss seeing you all…being on stage…performing for you. I always give 100% when I do my shows, but I can’t do it now. To reach out to you again, I have no choice but to focus on my health and I hope I’m on the road to recovery».

«This syndrome affects one in a million people – continued the singer born in Charlemagne – and we are still learning. Unfortunately these spasms affect every aspect of my daily life. This doesn’t allow my vocal cords to sing the way I’m used to and that means I won’t be ready to start the tour again.”
