Possible future passage of the president to superintendent of the Teatro San Carlo in Naples. Meanwhile, autumn schedules still blocked: on May 26 all employees strike

The board of directors of the public broadcaster led by Carlo Fuortes closed with the unanimous approval of the 2022 budget and a pre-agreement to locate the new Rai headquarters in Milan on the «Campus Gattamelata». Who, as expected, did not resign, branding those circulating around his farewell as inferences and limiting himself to communicating to the directors who had asked him, that he will soon present the budget, which ended in balance, to the Prime Minister, Giorgia Meloni.

That could be the moment when it will profile the agreement for his resignation and for the promise of a future position, probably as superintendent at the Teatro San Carlo in Naples. But the conditional is a must for several reasons. The first concerns the timing of this operation, which would require the removal of the current superintendent Stephan Lissner, with a decree that would set the maximum age for superintendents at 70, an age surpassed by Lissner. However, the decree is yet to come and in the meantime it will be difficult for Fuortes to give up. Today’s board of directors provided further reasons for thinking that the CEO does not consider the game over.

Approval of the new Rai headquarters in Milan, included in the real estate plan, is a move that gratifies both the League and the mayor of Milan, Beppe Sala. Both have so far been considered opponents of him, the first regarding his further stay in Rai, the second, with regard to his possible succession at the helm of La Scala. In short, Fuortes continues to play all his cards. In the council he even spoke of taking over the industrial plan, giving the impression of considering his mandate in the company far from exhausted. “Rai is not standing still: the approval of this part of the real estate plan proves it,” he said to the directors. Some of whom reminded him that the autumn schedules are still blocked and on May 26 there will be a strike of all employees, the likes of which has not been seen since 2014. In the meantime, however, the measures have passed with a unanimous vote.
