Cambiaso Risso, a company specialized in insurance brokerage for the maritime sector, has concluded a joint venture agreement with Leonhardt & Blumberg insurance broker (L&B), a historic Hamburg brand, present in the German shipping community for 120 years.

L&B (with its management team, made up of Eckart Kurtz, Andreas Prange and Sven-Erik Braun) thus joins a group which, thanks to the strategic alliance with Diot-Siaci, today represents the third largest marine insurance broker in the world and the second in Europe with a network present in over 40 countries worldwide.

Trident changes headquarters

The operation took place six months after the acquisition by Cambiaso Risso of the German insurance broker Trident Special Risks which, with Leo and Birte Kissel and their team, will continue to operate under the aegis of the new joint -venture with L&B. Trident, in fact, will move its offices to the L&B headquarters in Hamburg, where a total of more than 40 people will be employed.

The joint-venture will allow Cambiaso Risso, ensure the top management of the Genoese group, Marco Risso and Mauro Iguera, «to further expand its presence in the German market, one of the largest shipping communities in Europe, reaching a portfolio of over 10,500 naval units insured with customers in more than 20 countries around the world».

Employees and subscribed premiums increase

Following this operation, the group, explains a note, “employs 330 people with a mass of underwritten premiums of 700 million dollars and net revenues of 75 million dollars, as an aggregate of the activities of marine insurance broker and shipbroking, maritime agency and shipments”.
