Calenda: “Third pole closer to the right than to Schlein’s Pd. I will run as sole secretary”

Carlo Calenda has no doubts and in Mattino5 he replies in this way to those who ask him about alliances: from energy to the primaries, on crucial issues, does Carlo Calenda feel closer to the right than to Schlein’s Pd? “Absolutely yes. For example, the right on nuclear power says and doesn’t say but it voted for one of our motions which clearly states that we must move towards nuclear power. The goal of doing politics is to improve people’s lives, if I agree with a right-wing provision, I vote for it». Then he explains that «the single party in the third pole is already done, on 10 June the two assemblies will decide on the merger. But already today we function as a single party». And he adds: «I will present myself as secretary, then the members will vote with the primary mechanism among the members. We think that what makes sense in a party is not to have members vote for another party, as the Pd does and as happened in the Pd primaries when members voted for Bonaccini and non-members reversed the result. If I were a member, I’d be angry.”
