Calenda and the bitterness on Nordio: "Deep disappointment with his work"

After electing him as a point of reference for third-party action, now the leader of Action reveals all his disapproval on Twitter: “Too bad”

They had hoped so much. Several times they had arrived since Third pole signs of approval, if not outright enthusiasm, towards the Minister of Justice, Charles Nordio. So much so that someone even presaged a possible link between part of the center-right majority and the Calenda-Renzi-branded opposition. “Nordio’s words on wiretapping are fully shareable”, wrote the leader of Action on Twitter, on a very distant 6 December 2022. But two days ago, in his brief speech to the Senate, Matteo Renzi described the Minister of Justice as “a gentleman, liberal, elected with FdI”. A minister to be defended against the “two columns of FdI, which say exactly the opposite of what the minister has said up to now”, he added, clearly referring to the Donzelli-Delmastro couple.

Now it’s all over. After recent developments, the conciliatory drive seems to have run out: in its place has taken over thebitterness. There is not only the alleged leak of confidential documents in the ministry in via Arenula; what irritates the Third Pole most seems to be the softness with which Carlo Nordio tackled such a serious matter. “The cited document does not reveal contents exposed to government secrecy”: this is the calm comment of the Minister of Justice on the “Donzelli case”. And so we arrive at Calenda’s tweet this morning, which seals the end of a love affair as brief as it is intense: “As Third Pole we can only express deep disappointment for the work of Carlo Nordio”. The words of the head of Action seem to announce the most classic of welcomes: “Sin”. We had loved each other so much.
