What is reform

The reform of the Land Registry, imagined by the former premiere Mario Draghi, had seen the then grand coalition government split precisely on the expression “market values” which Draghi was not willing to give up (without succeeding), with the inevitable accusations against centre-right of wanting to defend tax evasion. Furthermore, for apartments and offices, the unit of measurement should no longer be the cadastral compartment, but the square metre. 2023, therefore, should have been the year in which, in practice, the reform would have started, with the revaluation of values, on the basis of a draft law that the previous executive had sent to the Chambers at the end of 2021. But for the Meloni government this is not a priority. As the Deputy Minister of Economy Maurizio Leo himself confirmed last month at Only 24 Hours: «In many countries, from Germany to Austria and beyond, the Land Registry stops in years well before ours, which was updated at the end of the 1980s – sighed Leo -. So I think that speaking in this phase of updating the Land Registry seems to me to be out of order». So why put it in the Def?
