Berlusconi denies the tensions over Lombardy. And Salvini is betting everything on autonomy. For Gelmini di Azione the choices of the Third Pole candidates are alternatives to the “old political schemes”

Francesco Rocca, the center-right candidate, to give the sign of a “less Roman-centric” Lazio, yesterday closed the electoral campaign at the Colleferro hospital. Attilio Fontana, in Brescia, focused on the classic “good governance” of the League. Embodied, as well as by Matthew Salvini and by the minister Joseph Vallettaraby the Northern League governors Fedriga, Zaia, Solinas, Fugatti and Tesei. With the group leaders Romeo and Molinari to warm up the audience.

The Lombardy and Lazio Regions intertwine as closely as they could with national politics. It is not common that a confirmation – like the one possible in Lombardy – is awaited with more trepidation than a victory that changes the color of the administration, like the one possible in Lazio. Because here the change in the balance of power between Brothers of Italy, Lega and Forza Italia it risks triggering tensions that may not remain under the Madonnina. Just to say, both Romeo and Molinari spoke last night of “electoral trends” to refer to the foreseeable outcome of the election. And so, in recent days the leaders have reiterated above all that: the allies will be united and compact. Yesterday, he reiterated it Silvio Berlusconi: «They have been trying to make us fight to weaken us for thirty years». Big smile: «Let’s imagine if we fall for it now, after thirty years, three months after a very clear vote by the Italians». As for the rumors about the disagreements, «they are absolutely false. I have a cordial, collaborative, even warm relationship with the other leaders of our coalition and we consult often.

It is not unforeseeable that the theme of regional autonomy on the Brescia stage is a workhorse: “The stronger the League will be – Salvini promises -, the stronger the train of autonomy will be”. In Lazio, the tones are less sparkling: «Differentiated autonomy – says Rocca – will not have a direct impact on health care. At the moment, I don’t see this risk.” But in any case “as governor I will not allow” that there are “risks to the health of citizens”. After all, the politicization of the Regionals was made official the other day in Milan by Giorgia Meloni herself. And yesterday, the blue group leader in the Senate, Licia Ronzulli, reiterated the concept: «These elections are a first coupon for the executive which will certainly come out of the victory strengthened. Forza Italia presents itself with quality lists and capable candidates». With the invitation not to “waste the vote on useless third parties”.

But Ronzulli puts his finger in the wound. What is unprecedented in Lombardy is that here the Third Pole is led by Letizia Moratti, until last November vice president of Fontana. Nothing strange, for the deputy secretary of Action, Mariastella Gelmini: «Italians are tired of ideological opposition and to lead the two most important Italian regions, Lombardy and Lazio, we have chosen two competent administrators. A credible proposal beyond belonging, an alternative to the old political schemes”. The declared objective: “To finally put into a corner the populism and sovereignty that have done so much damage to this country”.
