Builders, betting companies, frozen food companies: these are the financiers of the electoral campaign of ministers and parliamentarians

To each his sponsor. After all, the electoral campaign costs money and this is why in Italy, as in America, there are many private lenders who donate funds to political candidates at the polls. It also happened during the last political elections that led to the formation of the government Melons. Betting companies, builders, foundations, private clinics and even frozen food companies that have allocated funding to some of the current centre-right and centre-left MPs, from minister Antonio Tajani to dem Dario Franceschini, passing through FdI exponent Adolfo Urso (only to name a few).

The ministers of Forza Italia

From the lists it would appear that the Deputy Prime Minister Antonio Tajani benefited from a contribution of 25 thousand euros from Seda Italia Spa, leader in food packaging, based in Arzano (in the province of Naples) which belongs to the former president of Confindustria Antonio D’Amato. In the past, the same company financed the non-performing coffers of Forza Italia. The papers also show that the foreign minister obtained 20 thousand euros from the General Confederation of Agriculture, another five thousand euros from Mag Spa and the same sum from Ised Spa. The owner of the Farnesina also received donations from two private individuals: 2,980 euros from Ezia Ferrucci and 5 thousand euros from Marrazza Marino. In total, the national force coordinator collected around 63 thousand euros to support the electoral expenses. The blue did not put anything out of his own pocket, as confirmed by model D with the “candidate’s contributions”.

Minister for Reforms Elizabeth Casellati (Forza Italia) would have received a total of 46,500 euros divided as follows: two thousand euros from Girasole Holding Srl (a company from Potenza that deals with the sale of real estate). Thirty thousand euros from Marco Rotelli (San Donato Group), three thousand euros from the frozen food company Orogel Società Cooperativa Agricola, 10 thousand euros from Bel Spa and 1,500 euros from Appia Invest Srl.

FdI exhibitors

The Minister of Enterprise and Made in Italy also took advantage of economic sponsorships for his electoral campaign, Adolfo Urso. The exponent of the Brothers of Italy received loans for a total of 219,600 euros. Among the lenders are the company Top Cal Srl (3 thousand euros), Management Financial Services (5 thousand euros), Nts Network Spa (20 thousand euros), Finred Srl (5 thousand), Delta Group Agroalimentare Srl (5 thousand euros), Finvit Srl ( 10 thousand euros) and Tedeschi Srl (30 thousand euros). The private individuals who have contributed to the Urso campaign have been Maurizio Maddaloni (3 thousand euros) e Carmel Cosentino (2 thousand euros), to whom Urso then entrusted the commissioner management of Piaggio Aerospace last March. According to what Adnkronos reveals, the former president of Copasir would have returned a good 67,500 euros, of which 30 thousand paid to the entrepreneur Valerio Fiori10 thousand to the Nusco company Sirpress Srl and one thousand euros to Ferruccio Ferranti.

Guido Castelli, appointed by Meloni on 3 January as extraordinary commissioner of the government for the reconstruction of the territories affected by the 2016 earthquake (Abruzzo, Lazio, Marche and Umbria), counts some companies active in the construction sector among the financiers of his electoral campaign. A contribution of 3 thousand euros would have come from Entrepreneurs Costruttori Edili Srl of Porto San Giorgio, while 5 thousand euros were donated to Castelli by the building contractor Alfio Caccamo, director of various companies including Nefer Srl which, as the same company writes on its website , thanks to the “seismic events of 2016” obtained “an enormous boost to the construction sector, allowing Nefer Srl to obtain many new contracts in the reconstruction and construction of emergency housing structures”. But the list of Castelli’s lenders also includes: Facility Società Cooperativa (3 thousand euros), Cimas Srl (5 thousand euros), Radiosalus Srl (5 thousand euros) and Fainplast (3 thousand euros).

Support was not lacking either Daniela Santancheminister of Tourism, who received only a contribution in services from Si.com Srl for the value of 1,415 euros, while the president of the Senate Ignatius LaRussa received 20,000 euros from Telefin Spa, a telecommunications service provider.

Luke DeCarlo chairman of the Industry, Commerce and Agriculture commission of the Senate, collected, among others, 10 thousand euros from Circular Energy Rete Impresa, the same from Tatò Paride Spa (a company active in the supermarket sector), 7,500 euros from both Gs Company Srl and 88 Industry Ltd.

The parliamentarians of the Pd

As for the exponents of the centre-left, during the electoral campaign of Pier Ferdinando Casinielected with the Democratic Party to the Senate, Modena-based Fabbrica Italiana Radiatori contributed 10 thousand euros, to which are added, among others, the payments of the former minister and former president of IRI Piero Gnudi (2,900 euros) and the founding partners of his law firm, Romano Conti And Matthew Tamburini (2,900 euros each), in addition to those of the L’Operosa Spa service cooperative (2,900 euros).

The jeweler Paul Bulgari he is among the benefactors of the former Minister of Cultural Heritage Dario Franceschini: the entrepreneur paid 10 thousand euros to the dem representative (the same amount donated by Bulgari to Franceschini’s wife, the deputy Michelle DiBiase). To this donation are also added the 10 thousand euros of Stefano Scavomember of the board of directors of the Pinacoteca di Bologna, the 5 thousand euros of Joseph Signorielloaccountant and president of the board of auditors of the Teatro Stabile in Rome and that of Naples, and 5,000 euros from the Effeffe&Partners law firm.

For the former Minister of Health Beatrice Lorenzin, senator of the Democratic Party, there is a transfer of 3 thousand euros from Federfarma, and two more of the same amount from Federfarma Turin and Federfarma Lazio. The Federation of Pharmacists has also financed another former owner of Health, Robert Hope.

The Northern League

The vice president of the Senate with a Lega share, Gianmarco Centinaio, was also able to count on the economic support of Royalbet Srl, a company that deals with the management of the concession for public gaming (15 thousand euros), Alan Srl (5 thousand euros) and Immobiliare Condor Srl (3 thousand euros). Scrolling through the lists viewed by Adnkronos, we then find a payment of 5 thousand euros to the Northern League Alexander MorelliUndersecretary to the Presidency of the Council with responsibility for the planning and coordination of economic policy, by the Piedmontese Oil Company Srl. To the Northern League Undersecretary for Labor Claudius Durigon 5 thousand euros have gone Emmanuel Miragliapresident of the Giomi hospital group.

Action and Italy alive

The total donations collected during the electoral campaign amounted to 125,200 euros Mariastella Gelmini, elected to the Senate by Action. The main financier of the former force worker, with 50 thousand euros, is the Giovanni Arvedi and Luciana Buschini Foundation. To follow, among others, there are the 19 thousand euros paid by Gianfelice Rocca, president of Techint and of the Humanitas Clinical Institute, indicated in 2015 by Forbes magazine as the eighth richest man in Italy by virtue of assets estimated at 5.2 billion dollars. Funding for the Raffaella Paitaparent company of Azione-IV in the Senate: these are two payments of 10 thousand euros each by the entrepreneur Antonio Gozzipresident of Federacciai and of the Serie C team Virtus Entella, and of Virtual Srl.

The parliamentarians of the Alleanza Verdi and Sinistra

Ilaria Cucchi of the Alleanza Verdi Sinistra instead benefited from goods and services for an amount of 150,729 euros from the Agenda chaired by Jessica Shearerin the past organizer of the electoral campaigns of Barack Obama And Bernie Sanders as well as CEO of Social Changes, an American organization which in the last round financed various exponents of the Italian left, including the deputy of Avs Nicola Fratoianni.
