on the tricky case

After the complaint to the prosecutor’s office, the Europa Verde deputy asks for the documents on the meeting between Cospito and the mafia bosses: out of 54 pages, only 10 lines are available. “The ministry contradicts itself: if they are confidential why did Donzelli read them in the Chamber?”

“I received the answer from Minister Nordio’s deputy head of cabinet. I’ll say right away that it is a surprisingly evasive answer that provides no requested information“, says Angelo Bonelli, the deputy of Green Europe who had asked the Minister of Justice for the documents of the Cospito case cited in Parliament by Donzelli. The request would have been interpreted “as an act of inspection union and therefore insufficient to clarify the issue”. And yet, notes the deputy “Donzelli has not presented any access to the documents, no inspection union deed, so how could he have the document?”.

“The ministry claims that Donzelli’s statements are not covered by state secrecy. Good, but a clarification must be made because there is a clear contradiction in the letter”, Bonelli explained to reporters. “The point is that in telling me that I cannot access the remaining documents on the talks between the mafiosi and Cospito, the ministry says that I cannot have them pursuant to article 24 and Ministerial Decree 115, because they are confidential. The ministry is a little confused. I don’t know if Minister Nordio’s confusion is intentional, to give a political settlement to the matter, but there is a clear contradiction from a legal point of view because what we do not refer to is the violation of official secrecy”.

The deputy adds again: “I was given, in 10 lines, the shorthand of the conversations between the mafioso Rampulla, the camorrist Di Maio, the ndranghetaist Presta and the prisoner Cospito, a transcript of a very extensive report, over 54 pages of which , I repeat, I had 10 rows”. In practice, explains Bonelli, the ministry says that these documents cannot be accessed and therefore disclosed. And he asks: “Was the part used by Donzelli, among all these deeds, the one that can be transferred and disclosed while all the others are not?”.

Bonelli then assures that he will send the answer from the Minister of Justice “as a supplement to the complaint” asking “to be heard by the Public Prosecutor“.
