The Mef has sent to the Presidency of the Council, for the purposes of inclusion in the agenda of the CDM, the proposal for the appointment of the general managers of the Treasury departments (Riccardo Barbieri) Accounting (Biagio Mazzotta) and General Administration of Personnel and Services (Ilaria Antonini). Minister Giancarlo Giorgetti thanks the outgoing members for the work carried out with dedication and competence. In addition, the Ministry of Economy and Finance will present a proposal to reform the organizational model with the aim of ensuring the achievement of the important objectives assigned primarily at European and international level through a different articulation of the departmental structure.

Alessandro Rivera is therefore not confirmed at the top of the Treasury. Riccardo Barbieri was not among the names circulating in the last hours for the important assignment. Economist and market strategist with twenty-five years of experience in the financial markets, Barbieri worked for some of the major investment banksJP Morgan, Morgan Stanley and Bank of America-Merrill Lynch.

An arm wrestling had opened up over Rivera’s reconfirmation within the majority: Giorgetti would have hoped for its reconfirmation while some coalition parties were pushing for change.

For Biagio Mazzotta at the top of the State Accounting Office it is instead of a reconfirmation.
