Antonio Decaro calls for the union of forces for the Democratic Party (and pro Bonaccini)

Breaking the dysfunctional mechanisms in the Democratic Party. An urgency in view of the congress, say some dem mayors in particular, such as the mayor of Florence Dario Nardella, who organized a convention of ideas a few days ago (but is not a candidate); like that of Pesaro Matthew Ricci, who had given himself willing to run but at the moment seems to prefer the line of the one who listens to the citizens and remains a step behind (even if yesterday Goffredo Bettini said he “recognized himself in his platform”); and like the mayor of Bari and president of the Anci Antonio Decaro, who last Saturday, during the presentation of the book “The chains of the right” (published by Rizzoli and written by the director of this newspaper), launched an appeal to the local Pd administrators, hoping that they will make a “synthesis and assume responsibility to govern the party”: “Because the administrators of my party”, said Decaro, “have shown that elections can be won, and in fact they have won many elections in recent years, which has not happened at a national level, because the we did not win the political elections. I believe there is a wealth of administrators, municipal councilors, mayors, regional councilors, regional presidents who must now take on the responsibility of taking the Democratic Party by the hand and making it go back to what it was when it was born: a plural party, which has its own identity, which goes back to talking to workers, which goes back to talking about fighting climate change, which goes back to talking about fighting poverty, trying to do what local administrators do: share problems with their fellow citizens, but also sharing the hopes, ambitions and dreams of the people”. Making a “synthesis”: it seems, in fact, that of Decaro, an endorsement to the governor of Emilia Romagna and candidate Stefano Bonaccini (who yesterday reiterated, on Canale 5, that he wanted to take “the responsibility of trying to ensure that the Italy is more united, in the name of my party”). But Decaro’s words also appear, in filigree, to be advice to colleagues Nardella and Ricci. In other words: let’s gather around the candidate, let’s join forces.
