Aldo Moro, 45 years after his death. Mattarella, Mulè and Schlein in via Caetani

Forty-five years ago, on May 9, 1978, after a kidnapping that lasted 55 days, the body of the Christian Democrat president Aldo Moro was found in the trunk of a red Renault that the Red Brigades had parked in via Caetani, in Rome, halfway between the of the DC and the PCI. Thus ends the darkest story of the First Republic, which began on 16 March with the kidnapping of Moro and the massacre in via Mario Fani.

At 10, in via Caetani, the President of the Republic, Sergio Mattarella, places a crown under the plaque that commemorates the place of discovery. The Deputy Speaker of the House, George Muleexponent of Forza Italia, participates in the commemoration of the statesman’s death.
