Albanian Prime Minister Rama: “We smuggled anticovid vaccines with Di Maio”

On the matter, which allegedly sees the Farnesina involved in a violation of the contract for the supply of anticovid vaccines stipulated with Pfizer, no official comments have arrived from the Italian side. Luigi Di Maio was also present at yesterday’s event, organized by the Cultura Italiae association, but on the sidelines he preferred not to make statements. The Albanian premier spoke to him from the stage: “Now you are a free man”, referring to the fact that his mandate is about to expire. Rama also said that at the beginning the holder of the Farnesina had opposed the Albanian request as the violation of the contract would have been considered “very serious”. But he also added: “We did this very serious thing“.
Albania in January 2021 started its anticovid vaccination campaign a few weeks ahead of schedule. 1000 doses arrived in the country from an unspecified “European country” to initiate the immunization of health personnel. They were in all likelihood the result of the “smuggling” of which the Albanian premier speaks today.
