Company bonuses of up to 3,000 euros each (subject to a substitute tax on personal income tax and regional and municipal surcharges reduced to 5%), access to the Alajmo Academy for training, more leave for employees with children: these are some of the points supplementary contract of the Alajmo group, which introduces regulatory and salary improvements for the approximately 200 employees in Italy. «An important signal for the restaurant world», commented CEO Raffaele Alajmo who, with his brother Max overseeing the kitchens, runs 14 restaurants including the three-starred Le Calandre in Rubano (PD). The group, which in 2021 still penalized by Covid had a turnover of 11 million euros and reached 19 million in 2022, is also trying to replicate the agreement in France.

The work-life balance

«In a period of information confusion on the state of health of catering, the Alajmo group strongly wanted to introduce, through the new company supplementary contract, an organic series of innovations mainly inspired to improve the organizational aspects of work, the work-life balance of employees and to offer them greater economic opportunities and general improvement of their personal and family standard of living. We are extremely proud of the result achieved, at the end of a long process of comparison between our company, represented by our general manager Fabrizio Masiero, assisted by Stefano Bianchi and the Veneto Regional Secretary Filcams-Cgil Cecilia De Pantz», added Alajmo.

Welfare and Tfr

The agreement also includes the recognition of welfare services, to replace, both totally and partially, the aforementioned company bonus, with the possibility of increasing the latter up to 30% of the value of the accrued economic bonus. With regard to severance indemnities, it recognizes more favorable conditions for all employees, with respect to the provisions of the law on the matter. Finally, it grants the right to transfer some of its days of vacation and/or leave accrued free of charge to one or more colleagues who are in a difficult situation.

Sector in recovery

The catering sector sees numbers on the rise after the dark years of Covid, according to the surveys of Fipe (Italian Federation of public businesses) in the fourth quarter of 2022 the raw turnover index (current value that incorporates the dynamics of both quantities and prices ) of companies in the sector grew by 20.8% compared to the same period of the previous year. And 2022 closed with an increase of 39.3% compared to 2021.
