After the absence of the Fdi councilors, Governor Fontana dampens the controversy: "No tension"

Within the Lombardy regional council «there is no tension. The only thing we always look at is the future». The President of the Lombardy Region, Attilio Fontana, is thus trying to dampen the fuss that has arisen in the last few hours after the Fratelli d’Italia councilors did not show up at the executive meeting yesterday. The «casus belli» was the resolution on the extension of the M5 to Monza, presented by the Northern League Terzi (councillor for Infrastructure), on which however the councilor for Transport, the Melonian Franco Lucente, instead asked for an involvement. The balance of power at Palazzo Lombardia still seems far from being archived, even if the day after the rift, in today’s session of the regional council, there is the will to minimize what happened. According to the councilor for security Romano La Russa in fact yesterday «absolutely nothing happened, it’s all a fabrication. That there are discussions within the junta is absolutely normal, there have always been and always will be. A small hiccup like there will be a thousand others. We are an absolutely loyal party alongside President Attilio Fontana».

La Russa goes back to saying that it was a simple “mistake” because “we had asked to postpone it, the secretariats did not get on well, and we had a rather delicate meeting. Nothing happened, so much so that in the afternoon there was also a meeting with the regional secretaries and that was all. No problem then between Fd’I and Fontana “We are at his side, we have supported him and we will always support him”. The Lombard governor does not seem to have liked the comment on what happened yesterday expressed by the mayor of Milan, Giuseppe Sala, who when asked about the matter defined it as a “serious” fact: “Sala is unable to unblock what should be fundamental projects for the city – Fontana replies piqued – everyone has their own problems…», and to those who ask him if the resolution on the M5 will be approved in the next council, he replies «Of course, there is no problem».

Finally, the President of the Lombardy Region returns to the sender any accusation of delays on the Pnrr (National Recovery and Resilience Plan, ed): «We are not in any kind of delay, our objectives are strictly respected. If you go to see the ministry’s plan linked to the interventions, you realize that we are doing absolutely everything regularly in compliance with the times, even anticipating them ». According to the governor, it would be the Regis platform, which “does not work and from which it is not possible to obtain and enter data, so that is a problem but it is a problem that does not concern us”. On the contrary, “if the government has to remodel, we will be absolutely ready to receive many other resources, to invest them respecting the times,” concludes Fontana.
