In the heart of Rome’s Leonardo da Vinci airport, the Innovation Hub starts, the business accelerator dedicated to the development of innovative solutions in the airport sector, launched by Aeroporti di Roma. A new and open approach with which our group intends to contribute to giving a sense of direction to its subsidiaries, said the president of Edizione, Alessandro Benetton at the official opening, in the presence of the CEO of Edizione, Enrico Laghi, the Chairman of Atlantia, Giampiero Massolo and the Chairman and CEO of Aeroporti di Roma, Claudio De Vincenti and Marco Troncone.

Among the projects developed by the Italian and international startups that populate the Innovation Hub of the Leonardo da Vinci airport there is the robot that delivers food & beverage to passengers wherever they are in the airport, the one powered by solar energy that cleans the terminals by moving independently and, once at rest, turns into a comfortable bench. And then an autonomous wheelchair, capable of transporting travelers who require walking support from the entrance of the terminals to the gates. Or, again, artificial intelligence solutions never tested before that make security checks and baggage handling faster and more efficient, as well as more sustainable the turnaround of aircraft on the apron, reducing C02 emissions.

The acceleration period in the airport has an average duration of 6 months.
