4 and a half day week, smart working and more permits for parents - Corriere.it

The possibility of working 4.5 days a week, of having two smart working days a week and two additional days a month which had been introduced on an experimental basis in 2022 has been confirmed for an indefinite period. In addition, the permits and concessions for parents and caregivers have been expanded. These are the main innovations of the new three-year supplementary contract signed by Mondelēz International, the group that controls the Oro Saiwa, Oreo, Toblerone, Milka, Fattoria Osella, Sottilette and Philadelphia brands, with the trade union representatives of Fai-Cisl, Flai -Cgil and Uila-Uil.

Smart working and short week

Having positively assessed the results of the trial, both in terms of company results and appreciation from employees, Mondelēz International in Italy has confirmed the working method for an indefinite period, which consists of a holistic approach to flexibility in terms of places and working times and rest. Among the main points: the possibility of dividing the weekly working hours over 4.5 working days, of using two smart working days a week and two additional days a month and, finally, the possibility of planning holidays individually without closures imposed by the company, explains the group in a note. As far as smart working is concerned, the contract also provides for the possibility of accumulating the days available in the summer months. In cases where smart working is not feasible due to the specifics of the work performance, a stronger system of permits has been envisaged, the note specifies.

Four weeks of leave for new fathers

The contract also provides for the recognition of two additional weeks of parental leave for fathers in addition to the provisions of the law - for a total of four weeks - and continuous smart working for employees who decide to work until the ninth month of pregnancy. Furthermore, two days of paid leave are foreseen for the illness of the child within twelve years of age and a further three days of paid leave in the event of serious pathologies of the children. Another three days of paid leave are recognized for needs related to medical visits of the employee or of the child or cohabiting spouse or for the assistance of the elderly in conditions of non-self-sufficiency.
