25 April, Segre: “I have not promoted or signed any motion”

“Senator for life Liliana Segre specifies, with reference to statements that appeared in the press and in public debate, that she is neither the promoter nor the signatory of any of the motions under discussion today in the Senate Hall”. This was announced by the press office of the Misto group at Palazzo Madama.

The two motions of majority and minority on April 25 have arrived in the Senate this morning. On the one hand, the majority, signed by the group leaders of Fdi, Lucio Malan, Lega, Massimiiano Romeo and Fi, Licia Ronzulli, together with the other majority components, focuses on the “collaboration – as Fdi senator Raffele Speranzon explains – of all institutions and all political forces, to adopt the appropriate initiatives so that the public commemorations of events in Italian and European history take place in compliance with the due historical accuracy, without taking the opportunity to attack adversaries who nevertheless recognize themselves in the principles, values and in the constitutional provisions”. Pd, M5S and the other opposition forces in their text, illustrated by Walter Verini, borrow the words of life senator Liliana Segre, who in asking to celebrate April 25 in a unified way, hopes for «new and perhaps unexpected gestures » which could have «great example value».
