Wimbledon: today the women’s final between Jabeur and Vondrousova

At the stroke of 3 pm, the usual time for the Wimbledon finals, Marketa Vondrousova and Ons Jabeur will take to the field to try to win their first Grand Slam title. For now, of the two, whoever came closest to the goal was Tunisian, no. 6 in the world. She is at her third attempt after losing last year’s final at the Championships (3-6, 6-2, 6-2) with Elena Rybakina and then after losing in the final at the Us Open to Iga Swiatek with a score of 6 -2, 7-6 (7/5). The Czech, no. 42 Wta, she instead has her second big chance after losing clearly (6-1, 6-3) the final at Roland Garros 2019 with Ashleigh Barty. Friday’s rain should give way to the sun which is expected to return to the London sky from the early hours of the morning. The final, therefore, should be held regularly without the aid of the roof.

Previously tied, Jabeur won the only challenge on grass

The precedents between the two are in perfect equality: 3-3. Vondrousova won (6-3, 3-0 rit.) the first challenge, in the qualifications of the Prague 2015 tournament, and the last two, played this year: she won 6-1, 5-7, 6 -1 in the second round of the Australian Open and then 7-6 (7/5), 6-4 in the first round at Indian Wells. In between there were three straight wins for Jabeur: 6-3, 6-3 in the round of 16 at Sunrise 2016, 6-3, 7-6 (7/4) in the only previous one on grass, in the second round at Eastbourne 2021 and finally 4-6, 6-2, 6-3 in the second round of the Stuttgart 2022 tournament.
