A goal by Edoardo Bove, in the 62nd minute of the first leg against Bayer Leverkusen (1-0, 11 May), could have given Roma an important push towards the Europa League final, scheduled in Budapest on 31 May. Born in 2002, he arrived in Trigoria at the age of 10 and has been in the first team since 2020 and in that season, on 9 May 2021, he made his Serie A debut in a 5-0 win against Crotone, replacing Darboe. It was coach Paulo Fonseca who launched him into the fray and gave him a chance, but Bove’s talent was valued by Jos Mourinho, one who is always attentive when there is a talented youngster. In fact, in the two years with Special One, the midfielder played 40 games scoring three goals: two in Serie A and one in the Europa League.
