A young Italy goes on the attack of mixed and team parallel, the Team Event which marks the resumption of the World Ski Championships in France after the rest day. At 12.15 Lara Della Mea, Asja Zenere, Beatrice Sola, Alex Vinatzer, Filippo Della Vite and Giovanni Borsotti (the only veteran among the six) will be on track in Meribl in an attempt to repeat the feat of Aare 2019 and to get on the podium again: in that world championship edition, in fact, the Azzurri won the bronze.

Vinatzer and Lara Della Mea, for the record, were already part of that team and are now called up again. Italy in the upper part of the draw and in the round of 16 will face the Czech Republic. If they win, they will face the winner of the USA-Poland in the quarterfinals. Each team consists of three men and three women, but only two men and two women enter the track. Whoever acts as a reserve can be used, both in case of injury and for technical choice. In 2021 in Cortina Norway won over Sweden; Germany was third after eliminating Italy in the quarterfinals (score 3-1). Also today, February 14, the qualifications of the individual parallel are scheduled in Courchevel, both for men and for women: they start in the afternoon at 5 pm, so they will compete under artificial light. The format includes only one run for each competitor: the participants will be drawn to compete on the red or blue lane; in the end only the best eight of the red lane and the best eight of the blue lane will be promoted to the final stage scheduled in Meribel on Wednesday 15th February starting at noon. Marta Bassino has been training in the last few days in the specialty where she defends the gold she won on a par with Katharina Liensberger two years ago in Cortina. I always use the parallel as preparatory training for the giant and a discipline that I really like, even if the giant always remains a top goal.
