When the underdog wins in the Champions League

In the recent history of the Champions League finals, no one remembers a gap similar to the one that on paper will separate Inter and Manchester City on the evening of 10 June at the Atatürk Olimpiyat Stadyumu in Istanbul. Chelsea 2021 was not so underdog, still a Premier League team, who were lucky enough to meet a City abandoned by Kevin De Bruyne, first mentally and then in the second half also physically. Borussia Dortmund 2013 was not so underdog, opposed to an almost unplayable Bayern, but still capable of crushing Real Madrid at home in the semifinals. Perhaps the most fitting comparison is with Juventus 2015, which has a lot in common with this Inter, starting with the manufacturer, Beppe Marotta, also in that case dealing with a team left stranded by Antonio Conte. That time too he was able to cleverly build a group of excellent zero parameters (Pogba, Pirlo, Llorente), great old men (Evra, Tevez, always Pirlo) and valuable Italians (Marchisio, Ogbonna, Sturaro, naturally the BBBC). And on 6 June 2015, in Berlin, he looked into the eyes of the super-Barcelona of Messi, Suarez and Neymar for over an hour, before being fatally struck by it (which, of course, Inter will want to avoid).
