War on Mickey. Ron DeSantis against Disney's woke culture

He was about to become the new face of the Republican party, Ron DeSantis, was about to take the crown away from Donald J. Trump and become the idol of Fox News, the new messiah against the democratic control of the White House, to export the “Florida model” all over America. For months, conservative commentators have celebrated his victories, after he was re-elected governor for a second term in 2022 by a nearly twenty-point margin, and lauded his ability to achieve national fame with the image of a strong but without the drama and whims of the previous Republican administration. Considered a “smarter Trump,” DeSantis was also seen as the man capable of uniting a divided party, reuniting neocons à la Bush and pro-populists with extremist leanings who allowed the angry mob to enter the Capitol on January 6 of the 2021. After Hurricane Ian hit the Florida coast, killing 149 people, the governor was even incensed by Joe Biden for the way he coordinated security operations and responded to the emergency. Along with those of the president, several bipartisan applauses arrived on that occasion which showed him as a less divisive figure than the republican faces to which we have become accustomed. With a presidential curriculum, Yale and Harvard universities and experience in Iraq with the navy, the forty-four year old (thirty-two years younger than Trump) DeSantis is however managing to burn this fame, even before announcing his official candidacy for the party primaries. According to polls, Trump would beat him today, 56 to 23. And even if there are a few months left until 2024, such a large distance is difficult to bridge, especially with what the governor is doing in this period: a series of own goals that make people gloat the iron Trumpians and the Democrats, making the hype that had built up around him decrease more and more.
