Vlahovic and the night with Rajkovic’s wife: the scandal and the denial. Him: “It’s all false” – Corriere.it

On Friday 2 December, Serbia called to play all out in Group G of the World Cup in Qatar: by winning against the direct competitor Switzerland (and hoping that Cameroon does not do the same by scoring many goals with favorite Brazil), Dragan’s national team Stojkovic would detach the pass for the round of 16, where in all probability he would draw Portugal of CR7. Yet, the atmosphere in Serbia seems to be anything but relaxed, because if it is true that winning against Switzerland would be enough to win the knockout stage, on the other side there would be a dressing room – apparently – in turmoil. The cause? It would be the Juventus striker Dusan Vlahovic, who has already denied a story that sees him as a negative protagonist despite himself. In fact, a heavy indiscretion has arrived from Serbia, denied by an Italian newspaper but also relaunched by a Dutch reporter from ESPN. According to Cristian Willaert (who seems to have confided that some Serbian journalists would have confirmed to me that this story is going round) the reason why Vlahovic doesn’t play shouldn’t be sought in the pubalgia that has been afflicting him for some time, nor in a deficient physical form, but in fact well away from the playing fields.

The atmosphere in the dressing room has never been better, and it’s sad to have to talk about that when the big game is coming up. Vlahovic’s conclusion is a broadside: These journalists have empty biographies and have never achieved anything in life.

Maybe an attempt to destabilize the Serbian environment (almost) on the eve of a historic appointment, maybe just a way to get people talking. The fact remains that Serbia, today, seems to have their eyes focused on their goal of the round of 16. Whether Vlahovic will be on the pitch or not is another issue, but if he starts from the bench the problem would be exclusively physical.
