The Dutchman is the fourth rider capable of hitting the Sanremo-Roubaix double in the same season

Mathieu van der Poel wins the 120th edition of Paris-Roubaix after an imperious sprint in the final, on the Carrefour de l’Arbre, about 15 km from the finish. For the Dutchman, who conquered Sanremo in 2023 and finished second in Flanders, the first success in the French monument classic, the fourth in a cycling classic. Second, 45” behind, the Belgian Jasper PhilipsenVan der Poel’s team mate in the Alpecin, third was the Belgian Wout Van Aert. Filippo Ganna keeps up with the big names but finishes sixthdetached in the last shot by Van der Poel.

The last kilometers never passed, Ganna’s first words. The legs were missing in the final. There is some regret, also for the podium. When you find colleagues who don’t cooperate, they say they have cramps and then they pull the sprint… not nice. Now I just think about recovering. See you at the Giro.

These are the top ten finishers:
1. Van der Poel (Ola) in 5h 28′ 41”
2. Philipsen (Bel) at 46”
3. Van Aert (Bel) at 46”
4. Pedersen (Dan) at 50”
5. Kung (Svi) at 50”
6. Ganna (Ita) at 50”

7. Degenkolb (Ger) at 2’35”
8. Walscheid (Ger) at 3’31”
9. Rex (Bel) at 3’35”
10. Laporte (Fra) at 4’11”
