With 5 stages to go, the yellow jersey is increasingly firmly on the jerseys of Vingegaard, who wins the Combloux time trial and leads Pogacar by over a minute

A wild Jonas Vingegaard (Team Jumbo Visma) won the 16th stage of the Tour de France, the individual time trial from Passy to Combloux of 22.4 km. With a final time of 32’36” the Dane consolidates the yellow jersey beating his great rival the Slovenian Tadej Pogacar (Uae Team Emirates) by 1’38”.

With today’s victory, Vingegaard consolidates the yellow leader’s jersey, in the general classification the Dane is now 1’48” ahead of Pogacar himself. Tomorrow the penultimate mountain stage of this Tour, the Saint-Gervais Mont-Blanc- Courchevel of 166.0 km which in fact will define the winner of this Tour and unless there are upheavals will still be Vingegaard.

Third at the finish line in today’s stage was the Belgian Wout Van Aert (Team Jumbo Visma), 2’51” behind the Scandinavian. The best of the Italians was Gianni Moscon (Astana), 31 at 5’03”. Good performance also by Giulio Ciccone (Lidl-Trek) 57 at 5’59”, who defended the polka dot jersey of best climber. Today I just had to go all out, because I had no points of reference and in the end I did done. Now to defend the jersey I have to score a few more points tomorrow and Saturday, the Italian rider told RaiSport microphones. Since the time of the Diablo Claudio Chiappucci an Italian hasn’t conquered the polka dot jersey at the Tour.
