There Annemasse-Morzine today, Saturday, on the border with Switzerland, is a classic (albeit not very long: 151 kilometres) Alpine stage. Five cols classified as mountain grand prix, an unrated but no less tough one. We start immediately with the Col de Saxelwe collide after half the race with the Col de la Ramaz (14 km at 7%, a very tough intermediate section) you end up with the Joux Plane, fierce with its 11.6 km at 8.5 percent and a truly vertical final stretch. Great attention to descent into Morzine and the finish line: the surface has been redone but the organizers had to put ski-slope type barriers in many hairpin bends to avoid serious accidents.

Sunday in Les Gets-Saint Gervais Mont-Blanc the distance lengthens (179 km) and the great difficulties are all concentrated in the second half. The final climb is anomalous. Three terrible initial kilometers with peaks of 17% and average of 10%, a short descent and then 7 km to touch 8% with peaks of 11 in the final. At the top we could possibly really know who will win the Tour de France 2023 on the eve of the last day of rest.
