Two Martians took off on the legendary Col du Tourmalet they transformed the sixth stage of the 2023 Tour, the second in the Pyrenees, into a fierce battle that annihilated all opponents.

Tadej Pogacardefeated on Wednesday, won the Tarbes-Cauterets solo (his tenth success at the Tour in four editions) recovering 24” on Jonas Vingegaard who snatched the yellow jersey from Jay Hindley. The gap between the two, taking into account the bonuses, is currently only 25”. The action that decided the race started less than 5 kilometers from the summit of the Tourmalet, almost 50 from the finish, when Vingeegard launched into a frightening stretch that only Pogacar was able to resist.

At the top of the great Pyrenean mountain, where the pair climbed shattering all records, the two had already gained two minutes on a completely shattered group. In the descent towards the last col, Vingegaard, left without companions like Pogacar after all, recovered the help of Wout Van Aert on the run from the first meter. 2.5 kilometers from the finish, when everyone was expecting the Dane’s attack on paper in better shape, Pogacar sprinted leaving the 2022 winner in place and completely reopening the challenge between the two Martians. The Slovenian’s physical and psychological resilience is incredible, as he seemed to be in a deep crisis yesterday.
