American Born Chinese is a graphic novel published by Gene Luen Yang in 2006, the first comic to be nominated for the National Book Award and first to win the Printz Award. Now it’s also a TV series with the same title, available for a couple of days on Disney+. The protagonist of the eight episodes is Jin Wang, a Chinese-American high school student, who meets Wei-Chen, a Taiwanese student in the United States for an exchange. Their stories, and their adolescent disturbances, intersect with the battle between the gods of Chinese mythology. In the cast the star Michelle Yeo (The Tiger and the Dragon) who plays the goddess Guanyin.
