Too hot to ski onApennines. In recent weeks the temperatures have never dropped below zero even at 1500 meters of altitude and during the day they reach peaks of 14-15 degrees. Not even the artificial snow can kick off the season. And many of the plants remain closed.

Emilia Romagna, Tuscany and Abruzzo they requested an urgent meeting with the Minister of Tourism, Daniela Santanchè, to prepare an extraordinary plan to buffer the situation. In particular, in Emilia-Romagna, almost all the slopes have remained closed (in the Cimone district, in the Modena Apennines, today only the one at the children’s school camp is open), with hoteliers, lift managers and ski instructors forced to deal with cancellations by tourists. The snow was taken at a higher altitude and transported by wagon, since the temperatures are too high to even shoot it.
The Regions cannot be left alone – affirmed the president of Emilia-Romagna Stefano Bonaccini and the Councilor for Tourism Andrew Corsini – We need an extraordinary plan. Our operators in the white Apennines after the seasons canceled by Covid are today grappling with another black moment that is canceling a large part of the winter takings with effects that risk being irreversible”.
The request for a meeting with the minister was also agreed with the councilors Leonardo Marras (Tuscany) e Daniel Darius (Abruzzo). The Regions involved focus on some levers: “The Government needs to intervene in the first place with fresh resources to compensate, at least in part, for the damage caused by this climate anomaly – they underline – then with measures to postpone mortgages and with aid for the replacement of old snow-making systems with the latest generation ones that allow artificial snow to be maintained even at higher temperatures”.
The goal must be to “try to put the operators in a position to resist – they conclude – and not to be forced to abandon our mountains of which they are an important garrison”.
