The indispensable presence of the Giffoni Film Festival

[ad_1]

There are glamorous festivals, commercial festivals, historical displays and must-see events. Then there is the “indispensable” Giffoni Film Festival. «Indispensable for the growth of communities and for the development of territories, to trigger change, circulate ideas, fuel emotions, share values»: “indispensable” is the key word of the 53rd edition of the Giffoni Film Festival, scheduled from 20 to July 29.

During the presentation press conference, the founder Claudio Gubitosi underlined that: «Today we are writing another page that highlights even more the commitment that we all must promote to support adolescents in difficulty. I want to remind everyone of that famous human and moral testament that Francois Truffaut entrusted to us in 1982. That handwritten phrase “of all the film festivals that of Giffoni is the most necessary”, breaks through today after 41 years in our meeting and in the initiatives that will be developed during the event. To the necessary, we therefore add “Indispensable”».

150 works in competition

In this new edition, 150 works in competition from 35 countries and 50 out of competition will be presented, with a special eye, as always, on young people, for whom this festival is designed and to whom it is directly dedicated.

Set in Rome, in the summer of 1943, the film tells the story of four children who play war while the bombs of real armed conflict explode around them. On 23 July it will be the turn of the teen-drama “We light years” by Tiziano Russo, starring Carolina Sala and Rocco Fasano, while the following day there will be the highly anticipated “Le stelle di Dora”, an animated film that traces the Life of General Carlo Alberto Dalla Chiesa. For the little ones, great attention will be paid to “The House of Ghosts”, a Disney film which will hit cinemas on August 23rd and which the public and the young Giffoni jurors will be able to preview on July 27th.
