I confess: I too was invited to lunch by Alexander Pereira at his house. It was Sunday January 10, 2021, before a matinee by Linda di Chamounix (we must be very precise, in view of future interrogations). As a spectacle, it was almost better than Donizetti to see the superintendent and artistic director of the Florentine Maggio Musicale in a white terry bathrobe while in his enormous kitchen he personally spitted Hapsburg, Central European, Kakanian delicacies: memorable, in particular, the strudel.
